Many Hands on the Hill
Volunteers, neighbors, and partners made this fall a season of community across the Blue Hills.
Blue Hill Observatory on the summit of Great Blue Hill with Breckenridge Capital Volunteer Group.
On September 2, a team of ten volunteers from Breckinridge Capital Advisors spent the day at Blue Hill Observatory caring for our grounds alongside our staff. Thank you to the Breckinridge team for their time, energy, and partnership.
The first BlueHillsFest
On October 17, the Observatory joined neighbors from across the reservation for the first-ever Blue Hills Fest, rescheduled after the September nor’easter. The festival was organized by the Coalition for a Better Blue Hills, formed this year to bring the reservation’s organizations together: Blue Hills Ski Area, Brookwood Community Farm, Friends of the Blue Hills, Mass Audubon Trailside Museum, Mary May Binney Wakefield Arboretum, AMC Ponkapoag Camp, New England Base Camp, the Neponset River Watershed Association, the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, and Blue Hill Observatory & Science Center.
Together, the Blue Hills offer more than 7,000 acres of protected open space and more than 100 miles of trails, just minutes from Boston.
A place like this doesn’t stay special by accident. It takes people. The Blue Hills belongs to all of us, and its future depends on all of us.
