WELL ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES WITH INCREASING CLOUDS….
What a difference a day makes! Today started with some fog which
quickly burned off this morning. Sunshine was the theme through
the morning into early this afternoon. However clouds quickly
moved in after noon with a few very light rain showers as well.
This is all associated with a cold front currently pushing
through the region.
Temperatures warmed throughout the night from the 50s to the
low 60s by early this morning. With such a high launch pad,
readings really took off with the abundant sunshine this
morning, reaching the mid to upper 70s by noon! We actually
got within 2 degrees of the record high for the date! Readings
have already started to cool back to the low 70s by the 1pm
observation as the clouds and showers move in. Dew point
readings reached the mid 60s as their max during the morning,
but have begun their decent early this afternoon to around
60F.
Winds have become gusty today, first out of a southwest to west-
southwest direction. They have since switched around to the
west-northwest early this afternoon. The average speed for the
day so far is around 13mph. The peak gust for the day so far is
30mph, which occurred around 10:20am this morning.
Visibility was limited early this morning due to fog, but has
improved markedly early this afternoon with the approach of
the cold front. The view at the 1pm observation was up to a
stellar 70 miles!
The maximum temperature so far today is 77F, which is 15 degrees
above the normal high of 62F. The minimum temperature since
midnight is 59F, which is 14 degrees above the normal low of 45F.
