Winter 2027: Janine Wong
Dawn and dusk on Great Blue Hill
Janine Wong will spend the winter working with the light at the beginning and end of the day, when the summit changes color fastest.

Janine Wong is a printmaker, book artist, and designer, and Professor Emerita in Design at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. Her work moves between art, craft, design, and architecture. It is held in collections including the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and the Yale Art Gallery, and she is a recipient of a Regional NEA award in works on paper.
Her current series explores local color: how the palette of a landscape shifts with weather, time of day, and place. Research is part of her process. She studies color theory, especially the early nineteenth century, when art and science converged, including the work of the chemist Michel Eugene Chevreul.
